Get the Toned, Fit Arms You’ve Been Dreaming of!
Technically known as brachioplasty, an arm lift removes excess skin and fat from the upper arm, giving you better-shaped arms with smoother skin and more defined contours. An effective Newport Beach arm lift procedure helps give your upper body a more toned, more fit, better proportioned overall appearance.
Is an Arm Lift Right for You?
As you age, your skin naturally loses elasticity and may begin to exhibit a loose or saggy appearance. While exercise will certainly keep your arms in better shape, it may not have a significant impact on loose skin. Because of this, any generally healthy individual seeking to remove excess skin and fat deposits from the upper arm makes a strong candidate for receiving an arm lift.
Arm lift surgery is effective for the following individuals:
- Those with significant amounts of loose skin on the upper arm
- Adults maintaining a fairly stable body weight
- Healthy individuals without medical conditions that may obstruct proper healing
- Individuals with realistic expectations regarding the procedure’s outcomes
If you do not fit these general guidelines, you may need to consult further with your cosmetic surgeon and other healthcare professionals before deciding to pursue an arm lift. The most important thing is to become as informed as possible regarding the expected outcomes of such a procedure. If these expectations meet your personal health and body image goals, an arm lift may be a good option.
How Arm Lift Surgery Works
After identifying target areas on the upper arm, Dr. Garrett A. Wirth will begin the procedure by administering anesthesia to help control pain and discomfort. From there, strategic incisions are made, usually along the inner portion of the upper arm or the back of the upper arm.
Dr. Wirth uses these incisions to remove excess fat and skin and to reshape and lift the upper arm. Internal sutures are used to ensure these adjustments heal properly. Finally, the skin is pulled tight across the newly shaped tissue, and all incisions are sutured.
What Happens After an Arm Lift?
The results of your arm lift may initially be obscured by swelling, bruising, and discoloration along incision lines. To help reduce swelling and to support incision sites, your arms may be wrapped in elastic bandages or compression garments. As with any surgery, follow all postoperative directions provided by Dr. Wirth and his Orange County team.
As your arms reach full recovery, it will be important to maintain a stable body weight and remain physically active. This, along with continued support from the doctor and staff, will ensure the longest lasting results.
