Am I a Good Candidate?

A rhinoplasty procedure at our state-of-the-art Newport Beach facility can correct a variety of conditions like asymmetry, structural defects, dorsal humps and more. Following a thorough examination with Dr. Wirth, we’ll work together to determine if rhinoplasty is the best way to help you make your cosmetic goals a reality.

You may be a potential candidate for rhinoplasty if:

  • You feel your nose is disproportionate to the rest of your face
  • You possess good overall physical and psychological health
  • You have realistic surgical expectations
  • You’re ready for a nose that complements and enhances your facial harmony

What Can Rhinoplasty Do for Me?

It’s fairly common to feel that your nose doesn’t quite work with the rest of your face in the way that you’d like it to. Rebuilding and restructuring the nose requires not only high-level surgical skills, but a keen aesthetic eye, as well.

A rhinoplasty procedure in Newport Beach with Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS is a highly effective way to address the following nose-related issues, so you can enjoy your profile:

  • Overlarge nose
  • Droopy or hanging tip
  • Flat bridge
  • Hump on the bridge
  • Damage due to trauma

When a nose job is performed correctly, the shape, size, and projection are rendered in beautiful balance with your facial features, allowing your nose to enhance your face, rather than drawing undue attention. We’ll work together before your procedure to decide exactly how your results should appear, crafting a treatment plan that brings you perfectly in line with your cosmetic goals and allows you to truly love the way you look.

Rhinoplasty FAQ

How can rhinoplasty help me?

If you have spent years feeling unhappy with the look of your nose, a rhinoplasty can finally allow you to enjoy a perfectly-sculpted nose that balances and enhances your other facial features. Our patients frequently tell us that the increase in self-confidence has significantly improved their quality of life.

How does a nose job cost in Newport Beach?

Every rhinoplasty is customized to the patient’s unique goals, and some require more surgical work than others. The cost will depend upon the extent of your particular procedure, but generally ranges between $12,500 and $14,500. Your first step will be a private consultation, during which we’ll determine exactly how to craft your ideal results.

Where will the incisions be placed?

The incisions will be placed either within the nostrils (known as a “closed” rhinoplasty), or in the columella, the thin strip of tissue between your nostrils. When extensive reshaping is needed, an “open” rhinoplasty is often the superior approach. For the best possible results, it may be necessary to reshape multiple areas, while a closed rhinoplasty is often utilized for less extensive changes.

Will I have visible scars?

The scars will be hidden beneath the nose structure, as the incision is at the base of the columella. They won’t be easily visible, and will fade to being almost imperceptible.

How long do I have to wait for revision rhinoplasty?

If you are considering revision rhinoplasty, it is recommended that you wait for at least one year, following your initial surgery.

What are the Types of Rhinoplasty?

Choosing which type of rhinoplasty in Newport Beach is right for you will depend heavily on what you are hoping to achieve with the procedure. Each of these procedures requires remarkable technical skills, in concert with classical aesthetic sensibilities, which is why Dr. Wirth is a great choice for this particular procedure. Take a look at the videos below, to learn more about the types of rhinoplasty we can offer you.

Picking the Procedure That’s Right for You

Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS has a vast level of experience with different types of rhinoplasty, and offers all of the main variants of this procedure, including:

Primary Rhinoplasty

This is the procedure that most people are thinking of when they think of rhinoplasty. It helps patients address a wide variety of cosmetic challenges, such as the nose being disproportionate to the face, asymmetrical, or having aspects that are out of balance with the rest of the face.

Secondary Rhinoplasty

There are situations in which a patient is unhappy with the results of a previous rhinoplasty procedure. Whether you find yourself dealing with cosmetic issues or functional breathing problems, we can help you to achieve the final outcome you desire.

Revision Rhinoplasty

This procedure, also referred to as corrective nose surgery, focuses more on the function of the nose, addressing things like septum issues and breathing problems due to previous surgery or trauma.

Ethnic Rhinoplasty

It’s not at all uncommon to feel as though you want a rhinoplasty procedure, but would also like to ensure that you don’t impact the facial characteristics that reflect your heritage. Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS can help you reach your cosmetical goals, without erasing your personal characteristics!

How Does the Rhinoplasty Procedure Work?

Rhinoplasty typically takes two or more hours to complete, and is performed under general anesthesia, depending on the complexity of your augmentation. Before your surgery, you and Dr. Wirth will work closely together to develop a surgical plan that brings you in line with your goals, going over every aspect of your procedure in detail.

In most cases, Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS begins by making an incision inside the nostrils, to gain access to the underlying soft tissue. A small incision is then made in the columella, the small bridge of skin between her nostrils, enabling the scar to remain nicely hidden.

Next, Dr. Wirth gently separates the skin from the underlying tissue, so that bone and cartilage can be contoured to form a new shape. Once the procedure is complete, the skin is draped back over the underlying structure and sutured. A soft nasal splint might also be placed, to secure your nose during the first week of recovery.

In many cases, functional procedures that can improve your breathing will be addressed at the same time, including procedures like a septoplasty, which would be considered a septal rhinoplasty, spreader grafts, spreader flaps, and others.

What Happens After My Rhinoplasty Procedure?

After surgery, you may be required to wear a nasal splint for up to one week, as bruising, swelling, and some pain are all normal during the initial phase of recovery. In addition to providing you with specific aftercare instructions, Garrett Wirth, MD, MS, FACS may prescribe painkillers to alleviate your discomfort. Swelling and bruising are likely to be present for several days and possibly weeks after your nose surgery.

What Is the Recovery Period Like?

Recovery times vary from patient to patient, but the first few days after your surgery are frequently the most difficult, as the area will be quite swollen. At first, you won’t be able to breathe through your nose, but this ability will be restored as the swelling subsides.

The majority of your swelling will be gone in about three to four weeks, at which point you’ll likely feel ready to show off your new look. In some cases it can take up to a year for residual swelling to fade completely, but this won’t be noticeable to anyone else.

In most cases, you should be able to return to work within 10 days, depending on your job. It’ll be very important to avoid trauma to your nose following your nose job, meaning rigorous exercise and contact sports should be avoided for several weeks.
