One of the most modern advances in brow lift technology is a minimally invasive procedure called an endoscopic brow lift, which utilizes tiny incisions to smooth out the forehead and elevate drooping brows. An endoscopic brow lift can give you a rejuvenated appearance with minimal downtime and scarring. Board Certified plastic surgeon Dr. Garrett A. Wirth routinely performs endoscopic brow lifts in Orange County and would be happy to offer his consultation and expertise.
Candidates for Endoscopic Brow Lift
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is often recommended for men and women who are apprehensive about undergoing surgery because it is less invasive than a traditional brow lift but can still accomplish similar facial rejuvenation goals. During your consultation with Dr. Wirth, he will be able to determine if an endoscopic brow lift is right for you.
You may be a good candidate for brow lift surgery if you meet the following criteria
- Deep creases that run horizontally across the forehead
- Low or sagging eyebrows, creating a sad, tired or angry facial expression
- Good overall physical and mental health
How an Endoscopic Brow Lift Works
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is typically an outpatient procedure, lasting 2-3 hours. As a part of your preparation for surgery, you will be given local and/or general anesthesia. Dr. Wirth will begin by making 4-5 short scalp incisions, each less than an inch in length, and then insert an endoscope (a small light with a camera attached to it) underneath the surface of your skin to obtain a clear picture of the underlying tissue.
During this process, the underlying muscles and tissues will be either reshaped or removed. The skin will then be tightly lifted to smooth out deep forehead wrinkles. Once the procedure is complete, the incisions will be closed with sutures and staples and the area will be bandaged.
What Happens After an Endoscopic Brow Lift?
Immediately following surgery, you may experience some numbness or discomfort in your forehead region. Discomfort is generally mild, especially when compared to a traditional brow lift surgery. Any discomfort you may be feeling can be controlled with prescription pain medication from Dr. Wirth. You will also experience some mild swelling and bruising near the site of the incision.
Recovery times vary among patients. Your sutures should be removed by Dr. Wirth within a week of surgery and staples out around 2-3 weeks. Significant swelling and bruising may take up to 14 days to fully subside. In most cases, you should be able to return to normal routines such as work and social activity within a week. However, strenuous activities such as rigorous exercise should be avoided for up to six weeks. Dr. Wirth will provide you with personalized aftercare instructions following your surgery.
