Enhancing Smooth, Youthful Features to Brighten Your Face

Eyelid surgery, medically referred to as blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure that can significantly improve the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. Dr. Garrett A. Wirth is a Board Certified plastic surgeon who routinely performs eyelid surgery for men and women seeking facial rejuvenation. Individuals seeking eyelid surgery in Newport Beach often choose other rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift or forehead lift in conjunction with their eyelid surgery.

Am I a Candidate for Eyelid Surgery?

Eyelid surgery can effectively treat a variety of cosmetic and medical conditions such as:

  • Excess fatty deposits around the upper eyelids
  • Loose or sagging skin around the upper eyelids that obscures vision
  • Excess skin, bags or fine wrinkles around the lower eyelids

During your consultation with Dr. Wirth, he will be able to determine if you are an ideal candidate for his Newport Beach eyelid surgery. It is important that you possess healthy facial tissue and muscles around your eyes, as well as realistic expectations prior to surgery.

How Much Does Eyelid Surgery Cost?

At Wirth Plastic Surgery usually the cost of upper and lower blepharoplasty is between $7,000 and $8,500.

How Does Eyelid Surgery Work?

Our Newport Beach eyelid surgery is generally performed under local anesthesia and can be completed in 1.5-3 hours, depending upon the extent of your procedure. Once you have been sedated, Dr. Wirth will begin by making predetermined incisions that follow the natural fold progression of your eyelids.

Incisions are typically made in the creases of the upper lids and just below the lashes of the lower lids. After the incisions have been made, Dr. Wirth will gently separate the skin from the underlying tissue. He will then precisely trim and remove excess skin and fat around the eyelids. The incisions will then be sutured with very thin stitches.

What Happens After Eyelid Surgery?

Dr. Wirth will provide you with personalized postoperative care instructions to ensure proper healing after your blepharoplasty in Newport Beach. Following surgery, it is normal to experience some discomfort and tightness around your eyes for a few days. Mild swelling and bruising may also be apparent. Keeping your head elevated will significantly reduce swelling around your eyes.

For most patients, sutures will be removed within a week of surgery. Some swelling and discoloration may remain after the stitches have been removed for several days. You should be feeling and looking well enough to resume work and social activity 10 days after your Newport Beach blepharoplasty. Strenuous activities such as rigorous exercise should be avoided for several weeks.
