Making Over Mommy
You’ve spent your post-graduation time in many ways— traveling, learning, working, growing and taking care of your family. But if those wonderful years have begun to show on your body in ways that you’re unhappy with, you may want to consider a Mommy Makeover by Dr. Garrett Wirth. A Mommy Makeover includes procedures to treat several of your “trouble spots”: a tummy tuck and a breast procedure(s). This might be a breast augmentation and/or a breast lift; sometimes Dr. Wirth is asked to add a labiaplasty as well.
As a mother, we know your time is extremely limited! A Mommy Makeover takes this fact into account. By allowing you to undergo multiple procedures at once, your downtime is significantly less than it would be had you underwent the procedures at various times. However, occasionally it may not be wise to do this. If Dr. Wirth deems it unsafe for you to undergo all surgeries at once, he may recommend that you see him at multiple times. This will be determined at an initial consultation where Dr. Wirth will create a personalized plan alongside you.
After being stretched drastically during pregnancy, it’s no doubt that your abdomen has been through a lot! A tummy tuck, along with a healthy diet and exercise regime for long-lasting results, can help you look the way you did when you graduated, or maybe even better!
The procedure generally takes about four hours and begins with general anesthesia. To operate, Dr. Wirth will make an incision that will span from hip bone to hip bone (right above the pubic area). In some cases, another incision may be made near your navel if you have excess skin in your upper abdomen that you would like removed.
Following the incisions, Dr. Wirth will then separate the skin from the abdominal wall, thus eliminating the extra tissue, fat and skin. If necessary, liposuction may also be utilized to eliminate additional fat. After the fat is removed, the skin will be repositioned and sutures will be used to close your incisions.
While recovery times depend on the individual patient, most women are able to resume their regular routines within two to four weeks of surgery. Intense exercise and other rigorous activities should not be attempted until six weeks after your procedure. Your results, generally fully visible about a month after surgery, will leave your classmates wondering if you really had children!
Breast Augmentation/Breast Lift
Breast augmentation can help you achieve the breast shape and size that you’ve always wanted in time for your reunion. Similar to a tummy tuck, a breast augmentation/lift begins with general anesthesia. Because the desired outcome of breast augmentation/lift varies among patients, it is difficult to determine a generalized procedural plan. However, Dr. Wirth’s goal is to make your implants and/or lift appear as natural as possible, so your incisions and sutures will be placed inconspicuously.
Results will be immediately visible, though swelling, redness and soreness will likely persist for a few weeks. After these effects have subsided, your breasts will appear larger, more youthful and ready to fill out your reunion dress just right.
Your labia may be altered after having children. While sometimes not noticeable, a misshapen labia can cause embarrassment in everyday life and pain during sexual intercourse. To combat this, you may want to consider a labiaplasty.
A labiaplasty removes the excess tissue your labia, leaving you with the size and shape you desire. After receiving local anesthesia, Dr. Wirth will utilize a variety of tools to eliminate the unwanted tissue of your labia minora (the inner folds around the vagina). The procedure should be completed in one to two hours.
You may experience tightness and swelling, which should only last for up to two weeks following the procedure. Most women are able to regular life within five days, but intercourse is discouraged for up to six weeks post-surgery to allow for complete healing.
Dr. Wirth recommends that you have these procedures a year prior to your reunion. This time will allow you to receive any “touch ups” and for optimal results to set in. Dr. Wirthwants to ensure that you are wowed by your results, and that your former classmates are as well. Call him today to begin preparing your Mommy Makeover!
